She has an enthusiasm for teaching and promoting the fundamentals for beginning riders. The conference site and host change annually. Also, some years ago we saw a very similar pair of bookends on William Randolph Hearst’s desk in the Hearst Castle. As we noted in the post of May 1, these bookends are best described as Art Deco. Leigh believes deeply in the bond between trainer, horse and rider along with creating strong relationships between barn-mates. Now approaching its 39th year, the Alabama Clay Conference is the longest running program of the Alabama Visual Arts Network. We have seen Dodge horse-head bookends with ashtrays on the bases. After taking a break to start a family, Leigh has now returned to riding and teaching with Hunter’s Run. In the early 2000s she moved to the Bay Area and began riding professionally with Paul Bennet and Hillary Johnson at Rose Hill Stables. She showed successfully all across the West Coast and in Canada. Under Colleen’s mentorship she rose through the ranks of the hunter rings until she found her passion in the jumper ring.

Lindsay’s passion for the sport is contagious and a great asset with helping our riders learn all the aspects of good horsemanship. After undergrad, Lindsay continued her education at City University earning a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, this led her to becoming a licensed Chemical Dependency Professional. Colleen (pictured here with daughter and fellow trainer Meghann) has owned and been the head trainer at Hunters Run for 30 years. After completing a career as an adult amateur, Lindsay went on to graduate from University of Washington with a degree in Political Science. Lindsay (pictured right) started riding with Hunter's Run as a young pony rider and has recently begun work as an assistant trainer. As a junior rider Lindsay won numerous championships in the Children’s and Junior Hunters.
